Rochdale Borough Council has awarded Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust a contract to support the delivery of a Greater Manchester-wide Young Onset Dementia Admiral Nurse service.
The contract is valued at £210,000 excluding VAT and will support the service for almost three years, from 12 October 2026 to 30 August 2029.
The service forms part of a Greater Manchester-wide funding arrangement, under which each participating local authority will contribute £7,000 per year over three years. The total annual cost of the service is £70,000.
Where fewer than ten Greater Manchester local authorities participate, Dementia UK will meet any funding shortfall through its charitable reserves, avoiding additional financial risk for participating authorities.
The contract has been awarded directly to Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The published justification states that the services are of such a specialist nature that they can only be carried out by one person.
