Sector events, learning opportunities, and key awareness dates to help you stay informed, engaged, and connected throughout the year.
Adults across the UK are being encouraged to know their blood pressure numbers as Know Your Numbers Week returns from 7 to 13 September 2026.
Led by Blood Pressure UK, the annual campaign aims to encourage more people to have their blood pressure checked, understand what their readings mean and take action where necessary to reach and maintain a healthy blood pressure.
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a major risk factor for serious health problems including heart disease and stroke. However, because it often causes no obvious symptoms, many people can be living with high blood pressure without knowing it.
That makes regular blood pressure checks an important part of preventative healthcare, particularly as identifying hypertension early can allow people to make lifestyle changes or receive treatment to reduce their future risk.
The campaign also carries an important message for the wider health and social care workforce. Professionals working in GP practices, pharmacies, community healthcare and other settings can play a significant role in encouraging people to understand their numbers and seek further advice where readings are consistently high.
For those working in care, the week provides another opportunity to promote cardiovascular health among both the people they support and their own workforce. With demanding shifts, long hours and busy working environments common across health and social care, staff can sometimes put their own health checks further down the list.
Know Your Numbers Week aims to change that by making blood pressure awareness part of everyday conversations about health.
Throughout the week, employers and healthcare organisations can support the campaign by sharing information about hypertension, encouraging staff to check their blood pressure and signposting people towards appropriate healthcare support.
Know Your Numbers Week takes place from 7 to 13 September 2026.
