Grantham Care Home Retains Outstanding CQC Rating

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has again rated OSJCT Gregory House as Outstanding following a routine inspection carried out in May.

The home, operated by The Orders of St John Care Trust, provides accommodation and personal care for up to 32 people. At the time of the inspection, 30 people were living at the service.

The CQC again rated the home Outstanding for Caring, Responsive and Well-led, while Safe and Effective were both rated Good.

Inspectors found that care was highly personalised, with staff demonstrating a detailed understanding of people’s individual preferences, interests and life histories. People and their relatives reported feeling listened to, with feedback being used to make changes to areas such as menus and the home’s environment.

The inspection also highlighted the home’s focus on supporting independence and community involvement. Staff helped residents participate in local activities and events, including supporting two residents with mobility needs to take part safely in a local Christmas parade by arranging mobility scooters and practice sessions beforehand.

Inspectors found examples of continuous improvement, including proactive monitoring of medicines during a pilot programme and the use of data to identify trends in falls and medicines management to improve safety. The home had also joined a veterans’ network, enabling former members of the armed forces to access specialist support and services.

The CQC also found that leaders invested in staff development and wellbeing through regular supervision, training and pastoral support, contributing to strong staff retention and continuity of care for residents.
