A care home in Dumfries and Galloway has been ordered to make significant improvements after inspectors raised concerns about the quality of care residents were receiving.

The Care Inspectorate has issued an Improvement Notice to Munches Park House in Dalbeattie following a recent inspection of the service. The regulator said the inspection identified “significant concerns” about residents’ experiences of care.

The Improvement Notice sets out changes the home must make within specified timescales, with the Care Inspectorate continuing to monitor the service while the required improvements are carried out.

The regulator acknowledged that the situation would be difficult and distressing for residents, their families and staff, but said the health and wellbeing of people using the service remained its first priority.

An Improvement Notice is a formal enforcement measure used when the Care Inspectorate believes a registered care service is failing to meet required standards. Failure to make the necessary improvements can result in further regulatory action.

The full report from the latest inspection of Munches Park House has not yet been published and is expected to provide further detail about the areas of concern and the improvements inspectors expect to see.

The Care Inspectorate said it remains in contact with the service and will continue monitoring its progress.
