A new care home in County Durham is set to create around 85 jobs when it opens its doors later this year.
Bowburn Manor Care Home, located in Bowburn, is expected to welcome its first residents in early winter 2026. Developed by St Mary’s Care Homes, the 73-bed home will provide residential, dementia and respite care for older people.
The provider expects the home to create approximately 85 jobs once fully operational, with recruitment due to begin ahead of the opening. Roles will include care, nursing, hospitality, housekeeping, maintenance and administrative positions.
The purpose-built home has been designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating enhanced thermal performance, high-efficiency heating and ventilation systems, and renewable energy technologies to help reduce its environmental impact.
The development adds to care capacity in County Durham while creating new employment opportunities and supporting growing demand for residential and dementia care services.
