Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has stood down the critical incident declared following record levels of demand across its hospitals.
The decision was taken after the number of patients waiting for an A&E assessment fell significantly. The trust has also restored its resuscitation and major trauma services and reopened the usual cardiology admission pathway.
However, Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital remain busy, and some patients are still experiencing long waits. The trust said its focus would remain on patient safety and improving conditions for patients and staff.
People should continue to attend A&E or call 999 for serious accidents and life-threatening emergencies. Patients with less urgent concerns are being directed towards NHS 111, urgent treatment centres and community pharmacies, while families are asked to collect relatives promptly once they are ready to leave hospital.
