Urgent and emergency care at Ealing and Northwick Park hospitals has been upgraded from requires improvement to good following inspections by the Care Quality Commission.
Inspectors found that London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust had addressed earlier breaches relating to patient dignity and safe care and treatment. Patients were being assessed more promptly, emergency departments had been redesigned and additional staffing had strengthened the care provided in temporary escalation areas.
Ealing Hospital has now achieved a good overall rating, while children and young people’s services at Northwick Park have also moved from requires improvement to good. End-of-life care at both hospitals retained its good rating.
The CQC inspection reports also recognised better access to interpreters, improved information for patients and specialist paediatric assessment in emergency care. Northwick Park Hospital and the wider trust remain rated requires improvement overall, with further work still required to make improvements consistent across every service.
