A Frodsham day nursery has been praised by Ofsted after achieving a “strong standard” judgement across every area assessed under the watchdog’s new inspection framework.
KiddiCove Day Nursery, based at April House on Tarvin Road, received strong standard judgements for achievement; behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines; children’s welfare and wellbeing; curriculum and teaching; inclusion; and leadership and governance.
The findings place the nursery above the expected standard across all six areas assessed by inspectors. Under Ofsted’s renewed education inspection framework, introduced in November 2025, early years providers are assessed using a five-point scale ranging from exceptional through strong standard and expected standard to needs attention and urgent improvement.
KiddiCove provides early years care and education for children in Frodsham and describes its approach as creating a homely, stimulating environment where children can learn and develop according to their individual interests and learning styles. The nursery caters for children from six months to four years old.
The nursery places an emphasis on child-led learning, with its environment and resources adapted around children’s individual interests. Its provision includes outdoor play, home-cooked meals and snacks, and activities designed to support children as they explore, learn and develop.
Ofsted data for Frodsham shows KiddiCove is currently the only childcare provider in the area to have undergone a full inspection since the renewed framework was introduced. Its six strong standard judgements therefore represent a positive start for local early years provision under the new inspection system.
The latest findings follow KiddiCove’s previous inspection in October 2022, when the nursery was judged good under Ofsted’s former grading system. The new report reflects the different approach now being taken by the inspectorate, with parents given a more detailed picture of performance across individual areas rather than relying on a single overall grade.
The result means KiddiCove has demonstrated performance above Ofsted’s expected standard across every part of its provision assessed, including the quality of education children receive, their welfare and wellbeing, inclusion and the effectiveness of leadership.
