The Care Inspectorate has issued an Improvement Notice to an Aberdeen care home after an inspection identified “significant concerns” about the quality of care experienced by residents.

The regulator confirmed on Friday, 28 August that enforcement action had been taken against Grandholm Care Home following its latest inspection.

The Improvement Notice requires the service to make significant improvements within specified timescales, with the Care Inspectorate continuing to monitor the home and follow up on the action required.

A Care Inspectorate spokesperson said the regulator understood that the situation would be a difficult and distressing time for residents, their families and staff at the service.

However, it stressed that the health and wellbeing of people receiving care remained its first priority.

The regulator has not yet published the full report from its most recent inspection, meaning detailed findings about the concerns identified at Grandholm Care Home are not currently publicly available.

The inspection report is expected to be published in due course.

An Improvement Notice is a formal enforcement measure which can be issued when the Care Inspectorate believes a registered care service is failing to meet required standards.

It sets out the improvements a provider must make and the timescales within which they must be completed.

The Care Inspectorate said it remains in contact with Grandholm Care Home and is monitoring the service while the required improvements are made.
