Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Secures Oxygen Delivery Consumables Contract with Bradford Teaching Hospitals

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Limited for the continued supply of consumables used with the Trust’s existing oxygen delivery machines across its hospital estate.

The contract will ensure the ongoing availability of essential consumables required for the safe and effective operation of the installed equipment, supporting continuity of patient care.

Valued at £211,106 excluding VAT (£253,327 including VAT), the agreement is expected to run from 25 August 2026 to 24 August 2028.

The Trust is making the award through a direct award under the Procurement Act 2023, citing the single supplier provisions in Section 41 and Schedule 5, Paragraph 6. The authority concluded that the required consumables are proprietary products designed specifically for its installed oxygen delivery machines and can only be supplied by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.

According to the award notice, no reasonable alternative or substitute products are available. The Trust also stated that using non-approved consumables could compromise equipment performance, patient safety and regulatory compliance, while replacing the installed equipment solely to facilitate competition would be disproportionate and would not represent value for money.

The authority confirmed that it had assessed alternative suppliers and products, completed the required due diligence and conflicts of interest checks, and retained supporting evidence within its procurement records before proceeding with the direct award.
