The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has upgraded Brook House Care Home in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, from Good to Outstanding following an inspection carried out in June.
Brook House Care Home, which is run by Brook House Care Home, provides accommodation and personal care for up to 41 older people, including people living with dementia. At the time of the inspection, 29 people were using the service.
The inspection formed part of the CQC’s routine monitoring programme. Following the inspection, the home was rated Outstanding for Safe, Caring, Effective and Well-led. The Effective rating improved from Requires Improvement to Outstanding, while Responsive remained Good.
Inspectors found a strong person-centred approach throughout the service, with staff supporting people to achieve positive outcomes while promoting independence, health and wellbeing. The CQC highlighted examples of staff helping people pursue personal ambitions and meaningful experiences based on their individual interests and wishes.
The inspection also found that people and their relatives were actively involved in shaping both individual care and the wider service through resident meetings, feedback opportunities and dementia awareness initiatives.
Inspectors noted that the home environment had been adapted to meet people’s needs, including personalised bedrooms and dementia-friendly outdoor spaces featuring accessible pathways, colour-coordinated flower beds and a tearoom where residents and visitors could spend time together.
