Groundwork North Wales Wins Wrexham Childcare Training Contracts Worth Up to £154,000

Wrexham County Borough Council has awarded two contracts to Groundwork North Wales for the provision of statutory childcare training for the early years and childcare workforce.

The contracts cover safeguarding training and paediatric first aid training, with a combined value of £154,000 excluding VAT (£184,800 including VAT).

Lot 1 – Safeguarding Training

Groundwork North Wales has been awarded Lot 1 for the delivery of Group B (Level 2) Intermediate Safeguarding and Group C (Level 3) Advanced Safeguarding courses.

The contract has a value of £54,000 excluding VAT (£64,800 including VAT).

Three tenders were received for this lot, with two assessed at the final stage.

Lot 2 – Paediatric First Aid Training

Groundwork North Wales has also secured Lot 2 for the delivery of Emergency Paediatric First Aid and Full Paediatric First Aid training.

The contract has a value of £100,000 excluding VAT (£120,000 including VAT).

Nine tenders were received for this lot, with all nine assessed at the final stage.

Both contracts were awarded on 14 July 2026, with the earliest contract signature date of 29 July 2026. The contracts are expected to run from 3 August 2026 to 2 August 2028, with the option to extend by up to two years in annual increments, potentially taking the agreements through to 2 August 2030.

The procurement was conducted as a below-threshold open competition.
